Our Story
August 18, 2006 was our 3 year anniversary, we had dinner plans and I told Shane that this occasion was totally up to him. This would be his time to shine!! All week he had been telling me that he had something really special planned, but I had no idea. Before we left for dinner that Friday night I told Shane that I wish we could find a mountain top to drive up to and look at the stars. He just said "yeah whatever!" and that was that. So after dinner Shane asked me if I wanted to go down to Laguna Beach he said there are no mountains but we can look at the stars. I said sure. So we drove down there and had a seat on one of the benches along the boardwalk by the beach. After a few minutes we decided to take our shoes off and walk in the sand. You only live once right? I kicked off my shoes and took off running in the sand, ahead of Shane. I found the perfect spot and sat down and he joined me. As we sat there, we reflected on the last 3 years of being together. How far we've come as a couple and individuals, how great things have been and we talked about all of the places we have traveled to. We noticed, to our right, an older couple dancing right at the foot of the water, we looked at each other and I said to him "how sweet is that!" Shane said..."maybe he just popped the question" I replied "that would be nice" Since this is something I have wanted since we started dating!! So Shane said "let's practice". At this point I am like "OK OK, this will be so much fun!!!" I said "what would you do first?" he said "I'd get down on one knee", which he did then I asked him what he would say, he said "I'd say Babe.......(long pause)............Will you marry me?" I said "AB..SO..LUTELY" Then I asked "what would you do next?", he said "I'd take your hand" And at that moment he grabbed my hand, remember I still thought we were "practicing" and slipped the ring on my finger. I flipped out grabbed him and held him in my arms until it sunk in. So after I realized this was for real I sat there and stared at him in shock thinking that I really get to spend the rest of my life with this man! The day I had been waiting for was finally here. As we were walking to the car I looked at him and said "it's like you are looking at me different babe" he said "no, I've always looked at you this way, it's just that now it is confirmed in your head!" I almost died, how sweet was that? So all in all Shane did such a great job, I wouldn't change one thing about that night!
